Project UPaRTT: final event held in Parma

On 1 December 2025, we attended the final event of the European project UPaRRT – “UPgrading Parma Rail-Road Terminal”, hosted at CEPIM – Interporto di Parma, supporting CEPIM in cooperation with Fondazione ITL.

The event provided the opportunity to present the results achieved during the first year of full operation of the new rail terminal, developed through an investment of around €20 million under the CEF 2 Programme co-financed by CINEA.

During its first twelve months of activity, the terminal handled more than 800 trains and around 750,000 tonnes of goods, contributing concretely to the strengthening of intermodality and to reducing the environmental impact of freight transport. The figures presented highlighted significant benefits in terms of fewer trucks on the roads, lower CO₂ emissions and fuel savings. The event also represented an important opportunity to exchange views with institutions, logistics operators and local stakeholders on the future perspectives of the Parma intermodal node and on the strategic role of rail terminals in the transition towards a more sustainable and efficient logistics system.
