On 15 June 2026, the new SP1 bridge in Trecenta (Rovigo) was officially inaugurated. The infrastructure was implemented by Infrastrutture Venete as part of the programme to upgrade the Fissero-Tartaro-Canalbianco waterway to European inland navigation standards.
The project, with a total investment of €6.6 million, was co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) 2021-2027 Programme, which covered 50% of the total cost, while the remaining share was financed through regional funds. The new bridge represents a strategic intervention to improve the navigability of the waterway, allowing the safe passage of commercial vessels and bringing the canal into line with European inland waterway standards.
The infrastructure removes one of the main bottlenecks along the waterway corridor, contributing to greater efficiency of the regional logistics network while improving safety for local road traffic. The intervention forms part of a wider investment programme promoted by the Veneto Region to enhance inland navigation and waterway infrastructure, supporting more sustainable freight transport and stronger integration with the TEN-T network.
