On September 29, 2025, the conference “A Region in Motion: infrastructure, road transport, logistics and the environment toward the future” was held at DAMA Tecnopolo in Bologna, organised by Regione Emilia-Romagna and Unioncamere Emilia-Romagna.
The event focused on growth, sustainability and environmental protection, bringing together institutions, industry and trade associations to discuss the region’s strategic priorities. Sessions addressed the green transition, technological innovation and the central role of logistics as a driver of competitiveness: Emilia-Romagna handles about 250 million tonnes of goods per year, highlighting the need for fit-for-purpose infrastructure.
Speakers also outlined the Simplified Logistics Zone (ZLS) — extending across 28 municipalities linking the port of Ravenna with logistic hubs and industrial districts — and its potential to create jobs and significantly boost regional GDP.
Finally, regional measures to shift freight to rail were presented (ferrobonus, railway track discounts and incentives for terminal operations), alongside projects on air quality (LIFE Project prepAIR) and the VERA digital twin for policy impact assessment.
