On October 2, 2025, the conference “ICT strategies and solutions for port-hinterland integration in the Adriatic and Ionian region: state of the art & future perspectives” was held in Ravenna, organised by Fondazione ITL, Regione Emilia-Romagna and the Port Authority of the Central-Northern Adriatic Sea, with support from the CROSSFREIGHT project and EUSAIR Pillar 2 – Transport.
The event focused on digital solutions to improve rail operations and terminal–port connections, bringing together institutions at EU and national levels (TEN-T Baltic-Adriatic Corridor, EUSAIR, MIT), Emilia-Romagna Region, port authorities and stakeholders of the sector (ESPO).
We had the opportunity to moderate the roundtable closing the event, which saw the participation of representative of port authorities, ICT providers and industry experts, some of which are also incolved in the CROSSFREIGHT project. They contributed to underline what are the key drivers shaping ICT tools and the efficiency of digital transport processes. The main outcomes highlighted the need for a stronger digital integration across terminals, rail and ports as an essential element to develop a more connected and resilient Adriatic-Ionian logistics network.
