On 29 May 2026, the event “Interporti al Centro – Regenerating logistics: freight villages, territories and new infrastructures” took place in Palermo, organised by UIR – Unione Interporti Riuniti in cooperation with the Società degli Interporti Siciliani.
The event brought together institutions, infrastructure managers, logistics operators and sector stakeholders to discuss the strategic role of freight villages in the development of the Italian logistics system, with particular attention to the growth opportunities of Southern Italy and Sicily within the European transport network.
Throughout the event, participants addressed key topics including infrastructure development, intermodality, the integration of ports, railways and logistics platforms, territorial regeneration, and new perspectives for a more efficient, sustainable and competitive logistics system.
The initiative also provided an opportunity to strengthen cooperation among the main actors of the sector, culminating in the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at fostering innovation, infrastructure development and the competitiveness of the national logistics system.
