On 25 March 2026, the joint final conference of the ACCESSMILE, MERIDIAN, MILEPORT and PRESPORT projects took place in Trieste, hosted by the Port Network Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea in cooperation with the Autonomous Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Interporto di Trieste, under the framework of the EUSAIR Strategy.
The event, titled “Digitalising the Road Last Mile for Ports and Multimodal Freight Terminals. Data sharing and interoperability for efficient freight flows”, provided an important opportunity to discuss the digitalisation of freight flows, road access management to logistics nodes and data interoperability as key elements for a more efficient, coordinated and sustainable freight transport system.
During the conference, the main outcomes and experiences developed within the different European and national projects were presented, highlighting the strategic role of cooperation among different funding programmes and governance frameworks in supporting the digital transition of logistics and multimodal freight terminals. We supported the organisation of the event by coordinating and moderating the roundtable discussion “Digitalising road freight transport: operational experiences and future perspectives”, which brought together representatives from logistics operators, port authorities, motorway concessionaires and multimodal terminals to exchange views on future perspectives for the digitalisation of road freight transport.
